I think it was the May Issue of the LH onboard magazine when some pilot explained the landings. One of the things they said was that there are times when they intentionally hit the runway hard to have as much grip between aircraft and runway as quick as possible so that a next wind gust has a harder time moving the aircraft sidewards, etc. Of course, it all makes perfect sense. All super hard landings I remember were in really bad weather.
