Allowing the same day standby is WIN-WIN POLICY for both the airlines and the passengers for two reasons:

1. Airline seat is a perishable commodity. By allowing a passenger to go on an ealier flight, the seat originally booked for the later flight is available for sale. Who knows-flight delays and cancellation can sometimes make that seat a precious commodity.

2. Airline gains one happy and loyal customer.
