While this is for Australia, 10,000 miles aware - Yes - They are starting to appear in the Hertz fleet here as well
We used to mainly have Ford's Falcons (similar and as much liked as your Ford Taurus) here as the main car's in our fleets.
Then Hertz shifted to mainly Toyota's and they were very much liked and even cars with 20,000+ miles were like new to drive.
However, I have seen lots of Kia's and Hyundai's appearing first in the Budget fleet, then Avis, and now Hertz.
My most recent rental was for a Toyota Tarago (Sienna) or similar, so I was really hoping for a nice Toyota mini-van.
However, all they had were two Kia Grand Carnivals (Sedonas). While it was okay to drive it felt very cheap and very nasty inside.
Now while Hertz can use whatever car's they like, I highly suspect they would be getting Kia's and Hyundais' ALOT cheaper than Toyota's yet the rental rate are still the same.
Hertz - You are the premium brand with premium prices and I don't mind paying that, but still to quality cars!
If I want cheap base model equipped cars I will rent elsewhere for cheaper.
