1K flyer going SFO-ICN later in the month on 747. Confirmed biz class upgrade outbound 6/24 but waitlisted return. Was booking and agent was ticketing as V fare -said it would be $200 more to ticket Q fare and then another $217 higher would be M.

She was unsure how much of a difference going up a level or 2 in fare class would make - saying that status is the #1 factor and flight looked pretty wide open (1/4 full - 1 month out).

Anyone have any experience/POV on fare classes? Wondering whether it's worth rebooking/sinking in another $200 while this is still cancelable to increase the odds of landing an upgrade on this long flight

Does V vs Q makes much difference overall on intl upgrades???
