On International, the offerings I've seen lately have been $500 in travel credits - but up to 24 hour wait for the next flight. In this case, the $800 or higher limits might be more appropriate.
You are mixing voluntary and involuntary.
The airlines will offer whatever they want to. It is only when there are not enough takers that you have IDBs.
If you get IDBd, then the law prescribes the payment based on delay and itenerairy.
There are many threads here devoted to those who TRY to get bumped on overbooked flights.
