Thanks for the info. We really do want to live on the Piccadilly line because my husband will be working at the Boston Manor stop, and we'd like to be as close to the "action" as possible...

Here's what we're considering as our budget:

2,900 = take home

1,200 = rent
300 = bills and council taxes
400 = groceries
200 = transportation (monthly card for him, I'll mainly walk)

This leaves about 800 left over for entertainment, etc.

Aside from the meager salary offering in London, we will be able to use savings and income from other sources to travel. We are fortunate to be in pretty nice shape financially. I just want for us to be able to live on his salary...

I've looked at sites such as Foxtons, etc. and it appears that we should be able to find a small one-bedroom at Earl's Court for around 300 ppw.

So are my numbers realistic? Is there anything else I should know? I really do appreciate your time and expertise
