That SQ is particularly good, considering SQ is rarely cheaper than the competition and is arguably one of the best airlines you could fly.

If you can get to NRT for cheaper, you can easily get NRT-SIN round trip for about USD $800 all in on SQ. UA does it even cheaper but they don't have a daily flight so you have to adjust.
Not sure what the actual departure city is supposed to be, but if you choose another "eastern" city the pricing order changes. Using YHZ-SIN for the same dates on expedia:

AC/NH: CAD 2569 (for CAD 2577 you can get the shortest flight time of these options)
UA: CAD 2815
DL: 3288
AA: 3813

Trying same dates on expedia for YUL
AC/CX: CAD 2209
AC/NH: CAD 2505
SQ: CAD 2640
BA: CAD 2646
DL: CAD 2741
