Indeed. I had only 1 experience on UA, last year, on an ageing 757 and that was enough. I am 6'1" and could not believe how narrow and cramped Y was.
And then the person in front of me reclined....what a nightmare. Flight was booked by my employer, was not my choice. Lesson learned: pay for the E+ upgrade at check-in time!

I fit just fine into A319/320/321s. The Embraers are positively huge in Y, in fact there is little point upgrading to J in my opinion based solely upon seat size.

CRJs are awful (I mean, would it really have killed the airplane design to add add an extra 1/2" of width to each seat by making the plane 4" wider?). The US too much endure this hideous Canadian export, on their regional routes.

Dash-8s Y cabin is much larger in comparison.
