When should I anticipate bing able to check in?? (Hyatt Reston)
So, some tie ago, I had made a one night reservation at the Hyatt Reston this evening. Good rate, BWB eligible, etc. Never really planned on sleeping there.
Suddenly, family of a close friend had a local family funeral to deal with and I moved in, knowing that my otherwise unoccupied room might benefit them. And it will. Indeed, I reserved 2 more rooms for the broader family. (for the really nosy, I'm making the BWB-intended room available without compensation, but will accept post-Costco certificate expenses to myself for the other two rooms).
Arrived at 3:05 p.m., only one room was available. I went, checked it out, and it was fine. They purported to place a "rush" on the other two rooms, but they were not available for check in until 4:45. I'm happy to manage the burden for my friend's family. I know many of them, and I know they would do the same for me in a like situation.
But was wondering, what is the appropriate time to expect room to be available?
Incidentally, and it may be the property's way of dealing with the delay (if it is tachnically a delay at all) but they have made my Diamond benefits available on all three rooms (I got them wine and cheese). So, on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm at about a 3. But I just am intereted in some community guidance here.
FWIW, by Friday, the property were sufficiently booked that they were taking no reservations, and a measure of understanding may be due.
Thoughts?
