What I got for my birthday was a bag, a Briggs and Riley rolling duffel. It was the baseline series UWD628 (28").

Don't get me wrong, it is a great bag. Sturdy, strong and all that jazz, you can definitely have confidence in Briggs and Riley gear. Now the cons; with a shell weight of 6kg, yeah, I don't think so. When I left Montreal, with all my stuff packed I was already at the 20kg mark. Furthermore when I left Brisbane and saw the check in person attach to my bag a "heavy" sticker, yeah I was a little embarrassed by that. What I had to do was buy a separate "north face" duffel bag in Chiang Mai (i use " " because, well, you know it's a fake). Furthermore 28" is simply massive in size!!

I have a longer vacation coming up (6 weeks this time from June 28). Now I am back down to luggage square one. I have thought about getting an Osprey Porter 65, or a Deuter Traveller 70+10 (from MEC), or even going to an Eagle Creek HC2 Hovercraft Duffel 25. Then there is also the Osprey Sojourn 25 [which will be hard to find], as well as the Osprey Waypoint 65 [that is easy to find]. I want to be able to move quickly in an airport, hold the sweat, and well I will already have a daypack with me, so if I get a backpack i would be wearing the day pack in the front of me. A bag with wheels would be great, but as I am going to Laos I wonder what the terrain would be like. Also I would like to be able to use the bag afterwards and not cast it aside like the B&R duffel. As a beggar I can't be a chooser, but the cheaper the cost the better, heh.

I will have to make a decision soon, but man this is annoying...

Thanks all again for all your help in the past...it was greatly appreciated.
Skytrain!

Good luck, and thanks for getting back to us with the information.
