I am arriving from Manila with CX in the morning and then will fly on to London via BKK with TG in F in the evening. I assume CX would not transfer the bags to the TG flight.
To my surprise I recently tried something similar and it actually worked.
I had HKG-KUL on CX in J and then on a totally different PNR I had KUL-BKK with TG in Y with a 4 hour connection time.
I checked in @ the Kowloon in-town check-in desk and asked the CX check-in agent if they can check through. Normally I have pure-bred Star Alliance itineraries so I was skeptical if one could check thru luggage involving two PNR and different alliances.
It worked! No problems. All I had to do in KUL was get boarding passed for the TG sector and show my CX luggage receipt.
