BA settled my claim nicely and efficiently and paid all our hotel costs and some extras. That left us out of pocket for the tickets we bought to get home.

I've just had the response from Amex/Axa Insurance confirming they will pay out the maximum benefit of £400 per person (so £2000) towards our additional costs, as well as an extra further £400 discretionary payment, so total £2400 on top of what BA paid out.

So, pleased with the response from both BA and AMEX.
