There have been some sightings in the last few years reported on this board.

From my recollection, they involved him boarding as late as possible and in some cases not taking any food or beverage, possibly to avoid any tampering.

He was not well regarded by the front line. From a financial perspective, he formally did save the airline from liquidation in 1983 by declaring bankruptcy and getting contracts voided.

But you could argue he failed to build a strong carrier in later execution -- CO filed for bankruptcy a year after he sold his controlling stake in 1990 -- though due to the merger activity was a much larger carrier than at the onset.

I think only AA, Delta, and United managed to avoid bankruptcy in that early 90s cycle.
