Transfer to Metro 14 towards Saint-Lazaire, and take it two stops to Madeleine.

Here's my reasoning: Madeleine is a little further from the hotel than Tuileries, but not far and it's a direct walk from the station, plus the Place de la Madeleine is pretty. Also, the RER and Metro 14 are accessible, complete with elevators, and are also the fastest lines through Paris, so this trip shouldn't take forever like on other Metro lines.

I hope you'll enjoy Paris like the locals, the Metro included. Let me know if you have other questions about public transportation in Paris.

Peace.
Thanks for the info... exactly what I was looking for.

It will just be my wife and I and we will have 2 carry-on luggage so we'll give the Metro/RER a try. I'm one of the few people in Los Angeles that uses LA Metro regularly so I'm not afraid of transfers
