One of my biggest gripes with PHL security is the long wait at the TSA lanes when arriving on a TATL flight, and having to go through security after dropping off your luggage for your connecting flight. Last time I saw some F/A's using the emergency exit there - probably to go to the parking lot.

I might have an itinerary coming up where I do have luggage to transfer, but where I have a desired 7-8 hour layover. Is it possible to exit (legally) without a security check after dropping off your connecting luggage? (I could recheck the luggage, but that only works for flights that depart < 4 hours)
