the very south side is surrounded by the makena surf property (and the link above is a pict of the makena surf property, so of course that's what it shows. ;D ), but that's a small portion of the beach:

the north and middle portion of the beach have no properties backing it.

It would be a good back-up but Secret Cove is much more private and intimate, especially for early arrivals. There is a house at each end but only one of them is viewable from the beach, due to foliage.
both beaches are beautiful. we got married (10 days ago) on po'olenana, with secret cove as a backup, per recommendation of the coordinator we used, because they've found po'olenalena to be more likely to be empty (for an evening ceremony).

probably way too late for the og poster, but we used joe and co' at marry me maui and were very pleased. we split our time at the sheraton in ka'anapali and the four seasons in waielea, and held the reception at spago (at the four seasons). the four seasons will run you a grip for a stay, but the reception was surprisingly affordable. waaay less than i was afraid it was going to be- $60/$70/$80 for a 3/4/5 course menu. i also booked the four seasons through fs preferred partner and flyertalk poster davido and got a very nice 3 category upgrade to a ocean view prime room.
