I guess I just don't see this. I'm not saying rates never changes, but if it really changed every time someone booked a corporate rate, then the rates would change constantly. I can't say that I see this too often or ever. Also I doubt there's enough people doing this to have a huge effect on overall occupancy anyway.

This is totally different than benefits like diamond breakfasts too, because hotels usually have unsold rooms so this likely makes them more money. I know I usually have a daily expense budget and if a hotel is over a certain amount I can't stay there. So when Hyatt gives me a corporate discount, that property fills a room that would likely be left empty.

But as with most things, there's no way to tell one way or the other so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. When occupancy rates go up, maybe this could have a larger effect, but when most hotels(not usually PH's) are available for much less on priceline and hotwire I seriously doubt it.
