I would still probably go via AMS, even if I had to fly into LHR, if only because the arrival time for the DTW flight is peak arrival time, and I have always found immigration to be tough at this time.

Can you still get a DL - KL connection on AMS-LCY?

I think VLM is the only one who flies it now, not CityHopper. I tried to book a connection a few months ago and it would not let me. Maybe I did it wrong?
