They re-branded their "World" MC to "World Elite" last year I believe to justify a higher merchant fee. If you apply for the World MC, it will likely say "World Elite" when it arrives. They didn't seems to roll our any of the World Elite perqs (Like Ameriprise's WEMC), so I call it a "World Elite" lite card.
I have the World (no Elite) Platinum Citi Mastercard and the Signature Platinum Citi Visa card. It seems that the World Card does not really carry the benefits that many others carry, but the Visa Signature does (concierge service through Visa and Fandango discounts come to mind).
It seems odd (to me) that Citibank would offer two premium cards World Elite MC and Visa Signature, but only really provide the benefits for the Visa Signature.
