The larger question is why TSA (and apparently some posters in this thread) feel that they're in a better position to "play doctor" than your doctor is. Given the assumptions that (1) they are not medically trained doctors themselves, and (2) they do not have access to your medical history, I would say that they aren't.
You are ABSOLUTLY correct. I do not know if part of the reason is due to the fact that I am asthmatic, or due to the fact that I was just cured of cancer (6 months ago) or due to the fact that I am diabetic, but the fact is that my doctor has told me that I need to make the care of myself and my CPAP a top priority. I have been doing a good job of that, as my blood sugars now register in the normal range and I have not had a flare up of asthma in a year.
