On the return flight, it was the same routing but opposite direction OMA --> DFW --> SJC and I only received 1418 miles. It was the same flight # throughout, however it went through DFW.

AMERICAN AIRLINES 1397 Y DFW OMA 583 583 1,166
AMERICAN AIRLINES 1882 Y SJC DFW 1,438 1,438 2,876

AMERICAN AIRLINES 1035 Y OMA SJC 1,415 1,415 2,830

My question is should I receive miles like my outbound flight? I know it's only about 500 miles difference, but I'd like to know for future reference.

Thanks everyone in advance!
On direct flights (not the same thing as NON-STOP. "Direct" flights have 1 flight number, even if there are stops), you get the mileage associated for the distance as though it were a non-stop flight.
