I understand people are eager to get situated, but I get frustrated that this leads to an entire breakdown in civility and accepted social practices. Same goes for people who weasel up to the gate agent to ask for standby/rebooking/etc when there is a line of people waiting for the very same services.

Sorry, I guess I am just venting, but it makes my commute feel that much more rat-racey and uncivilized. And I have quite enough of that feeling as it is. If you are smart enough to attain GS/1k/1p/etc, you can figure out how a line works. Go to the back.

I especially like your mention of the unwritten "age rule." I am 25 and look about 12 , and have experienced similar situations. I am not saying younger people don't have status or fly up front, but there are certainly less of us - so I guess people just assume we don't belong there. I am *so* tired of constantly being cut off in line, given dirty looks when Y passengers pass me on occasions I am seated in the F cabin, being dismissed with the "ohhh, right, okay..." like I couldn't possibly know what I am talking about when I try to offer friendly advice to people wandering up to board with 1Ps when their boarding pass says 4 on it, etc.

Okay, rant over. But I do think your point is valid here, because this is a thread about issues with the boarding process, and being cut off in line (for whatever reason) is certainly an issue with the boarding process.
