I was routinely denied late checkouts beyond say 1 PM - at the former PH SF. Other than that I rarely request late checkout but I must say that SPG beats Hyatt on this point. However, a 2 PM checkout has been proactively offered lately at Hyatt's - so that seems to be the standard that they are aiming for.
