re: Line Barbarians
This might be an off-topic rant/tangent, but the original post touched on this briefly. I understand there can be some confusion as it is sometimes difficult to tell if people are waiting for the red carpet, or just anxious to board. I must say as as someone who looks a bit younger I often get people swerving their luggage in front of me, to dash onto the red carpet. I understand people are eager to get situated, but I get frustrated that this leads to an entire breakdown in civility and accepted social practices. Same goes for people who weasel up to the gate agent to ask for standby/rebooking/etc when there is a line of people waiting for the very same services.
Sorry, I guess I am just venting, but it makes my commute feel that much more rat-racey and uncivilized. And I have quite enough of that feeling as it is. If you are smart enough to attain GS/1k/1p/etc, you can figure out how a line works. Go to the back.
