And of course, too many people boarded with roll-on bags that didn't fit either side of the overhead bins. Most ended up checked (free of charge, of course). When will AC and the other carriers wisen up to this waste of time? Bags over 19" should not be permitted on these planes and should be caught at check-in when AC can collect an appropriate payment. The current practice only encourages this deceptive practice and adds to the work of gate and in flight crews to deal with.

I read somewhere (I think RSSed from The Gate) that the dAArk side is beginning to enforce carry-on size limits (with an up-to $20k fine). Hope this will start spreading to the other major carriers
