Depends on your perspective. Apparently the only day exempt from this is literally 4th of July-every other day is being considered a 'peak' day, therefore, everyone is going to get hit w/it, on some level, if you want to/need to travel this summer.

From another article I read (somewhere) today, it's easier for the airlines to get away w/something like from a regulatory standpoint by calling it a 'surcharge' vs. a fare increase.
