Smile epic experience with CNL/big delay!!

Haha if you want to see something interesting, check out my photo of my experiece with CNL this past December 26th 2009 in Koln Hbf.

-At the time in picture it said train is 170 min delay. Ended up turning into 230min delay

I was supposed to catch a 930pm or around there (I forgot exact time) CNL Jan Kiepura from Amsterdam-Moscow at Koln HBF bound for Warsaw. This train was over 4+ hours late. I met a bunch of people at the station while waiting, since it was also pretty cold that night. After a while a station attendant tells us the train is not coming to Koln and that we will have to go on a ICE train a few stations down the line where it would meet up with us. -- This happened at the point in time where the train was 2 hours late. So we wait for that ICE train to come and it took us to said station, which by the way happened to be an outdoor station. By then it was close to midnight. So we wait and wait out in the cold for the night train to come. I was happy since I met two lovely French ladies that were my age so we talked, me in my horrible french and them in their attempt at english haha .
By now it was almost 130am when DB staff came out with light snacks and hot coffee for us, which was awesome at the time. The train ended up showing up around 2am! We were told that some compensation could be given, but I did not care I just wanted to SLEEP! Since I had a single 'delux' compartment to myself (which cost me about $40-60 euros for reservation fee as I had a Eurail Germany-Poland railpass). I was supposed to be in Warsaw for 10-11am. I ended up getting off in Poznan at 930-10am - which is about 3-4 hours away from Warsaw since by the time I got to warsaw I would not have had any connections available to a smaller town in the north where I have family.

Needless to say next time I take a CNL night train during winter I am heading to where the train originates! Id rather be stuck in my cabin and the train delayed then outside freezing haha.
