Similar experience recently. SJC-LAX-LHR (-VIE). SJC-LAX was delayed for crew issues and we would miss LAX-LHR. My favorite AAngel reeboked us SJC-ORD (leaving RIGHT NOW) and ORD-LHR. Preserved upgrades and even got us seats on all parts. The bar/food person took the sandwiches we'd just bought, disappeared in the back and came running to the gate with everything nicely packed, just as we were boarding. And that's just one of a number of examples.
