I guess I'm somewhere on the middle on this one...
On the one hand, I think that it is reasonable for a PLT member who requalifies year after year to request tags on an infrequent basis if he/she needs some replacement ones. After all, the loyalty gained vs. the cost incurred works out well for both parties (passenger and airline).
Having said that, I don't think AA should be sending out tags to all PLT members on a regular basis. Sure, I only have my original set from about 5 years ago and got that white sticker for my card this year, but given the fact that AA is currently losing more money every day than any other airline, I'll let some things slide in the hopes that they keep other service (such as PLT line, which I use much more often than my card or tags) going until they become profitable again.
