It depends on availability - but you would pay a $150 change fee if your current MCI-ORD is nonrefundable.

You should look into the "Same Day Confirmed" flight change rules on AA.com, for the ability to change to an earlier flight for only $50 on the day of travel. Or, if you're AA elite, you can just standby for free (but that won't help your checked bags for the trip)...
