It was not free at the ES Miami where I stayed last night, but MyWay did it for me. I find the practice indeed becoming more common and now that Starwood and Marriott give it to Platinums everywhere. I suspect Hilton might give access free to Diamonds, at least. I hope so. Internet access has become essential, it's no longer an easy rip-off luxury as it was once thought to be.
Hyatt is also giving it out to their members who are Platnium (only 15 nights or 5 stays are required for that level so it is probably similar to Hiltons silver).
With the competition giving internet for free, and seeing how many people have smart phones and can access the internet (even though it is much more convenient to use a laptop) I am surprised Hilton still charges.
If a cheap chain like Travelodge can give it away for free on a $50 a night room, Hilton should be able to.
