My worries along these lines has always been if I'm running late from a connection and I have my camera gear in my carryon. They will not take liability for camera gear in checked luggage (when they do, they don't usually cover the cost of it) and being late between flights is the only time when the agents try to force elites to check their carryon at the gate. Has anyone declined this due to items that they do not take liability for in checked luggage?
Exactly--many of us put stuff in our carry-ons that has no business being checked. Cameras, laptops, medicine etc.
