I'd recommend sticking with AS until you hit MVP75K, or at least MVPG. Then get a status match on the other airline you are considering. That gives you the chance to check out what it would be like to have status on the other airline, before going full throttle.

Of course, I'm slightly biased, although I've been considering jumping ship as well.
