I know there is a problem with people coming back into michigan after drinking in canada..but all i heard about was a problem with cops stoping people who appeared underage and then handing out MIP's to passangers even if the driver was sober or Minor in Posession because they were under 21 but still blew even .02. But I recently heard that the govener passed a law or something saying that if the passengers in the car are under 21 and have been drinking..they just have to tell the officer they are coming from canada and the officer can as to see their passport. now this is just for passangers..the drivers can still not be intoxicated.
What I think i will do after doing my research is just try and make a visit..and if asked be honest and truthful about what I have..and I guess the worse that could happen is they will just turn me away..
also I just found my copy of the ticket and it is recoreded as MCL 257.625(6)
so
"(6) A person who is less than 21 years of age, whether licensed or not, shall not operate a vehicle upon a highway or other place open to the general public or generally accessible to motor vehicles, including an area designated for the parking of vehicles, within this state if the person has any bodily alcohol content. As used in this subsection, "any bodily alcohol content" means either of the following:
(a) An alcohol content of 0.02 grams or more but less than 0.08 grams per 100 milliliters of blood, per 210 liters of breath, or per 67 milliliters of urine, or, beginning October 1, 2013, the person has an alcohol content of 0.02 grams or more but less than 0.10 grams per 100 milliliters of blood, per 210 liters of breath, or per 67 milliliters of urine.
(b) Any presence of alcohol within a person's body resulting from the consumption of alcoholic liquor, other than consumption of alcoholic liquor as a part of a generally recognized religious service or ceremony."
So technically if I understand the rules on entering Canada..I would not be found inadmissible because I was 19 at the time and I would not have been committing a crime if I had been in Canada.
If I am misunderstanding something here someone please let me know.
Also thank you for everyone that helped me with this problem.
