W/all due respect, I think you would be well-served to focus your anger on the situation at hand, not on those on this board who are trying to offer assistance. JDiver posted the official rules for your assistance. American airlines does not monitor this board nor does American run the board.
There seems to be a couple of issues that do not make sense and your personal (i.e. re: service animals) that are not directly related to THIS issue do not help the situation. I understand your frustration but the angrier you become, the less likely people will be to help you.
I have a great deal of experience traveling w/a pet in cabin and have never had this sort of problem. Traveling w/a pet is no different than any other travel scenario today, you need to be prepared.
They do not overbook pets, 7 is the max, including service animals, so it means that someone checked in w/a pet that had no reservation and in essence was given your pet's reservation. When you made the reservation, your pet reservation was assigned its own record locator. Did you have that # w/you & provide it to the agent. The agent could have easily looked up the reservation and see where the error occured.
The issue of the embargo: I just did a quick search and found a lot of posts referencing airline pet embargoes from Grenada at this time of year.
On Monday, get to the airport WELL in advance of the 2 hour cutoff, armed w/your pet's record locator, a print off of AAs pet policy, you various vet certificates and a smile and hopefully you & Fido will make the flight.
