lhr - del (one way) is £203.47 (approx inr 13,800)

del - lhr (return) is inr 26,122

lhr - delhi (return on similar dates) in £308.47 (approx inr 20,900)

if i booked 2 one way tickets then i would save a little over inr 2,000....sometimes a saving that is so little is not worth the hassal of having to explain to the immigration agent why you bought 2 seperate one way tickets (i have been stuck in this situation once)....

I should have been a little clearer, my point was specifically in relation to BMI redemptions. I'm sure that there are other airlines (9W as you point out above) where the difference is slight. With a BMI award ticket, once you fly the outbound leg, the inbound becomes non-changeable, hence why many people prefer to ticket them as separate one-way flights.

As for Immigration Officers, point taken but again it depends on the Passport you hold and the country you are trying to enter. I assume you (saad) are an Indian Passport holder trying to enter the UK with two one way tickets; sadly I'm sure that is met with far more skepticism than a British Passport holder entering India!
