Thoughts on a flight, Slightly different onboard service - the food was better!

Flew from LHR-ACC yesterday and although of course regular crew on the flight we were given the 'slightly different onboard service'.

Ok, so Champagne was not up to ususal standard, served by the bottle (small one!), the same with wine.

The meal service however was better than you usually get on this route. Starter and dessert already on tray set up, Quiche to start which was far better than most of the CW starters, no salad but so what, i am not a Rabbit. Choice of 3 main dishes, Chicken Curry (far better than the Curry that many have commented on recently, actually had Chicken in it), Pasta in a Cheese sauce (looked good) or a prawn Salad (also looked good).

the CSD came around to take the food orders, obviously very embarrased about the food choices and service available and did a great job of making everyone enjoy their flight. A few people seemed annoyed that there was no duty free available, i must agree with them, it is not that difficult to load duty free carts surely.

the second meal service was the real surprise, normally on this route the snack is the dreaded sandwiches and 2 pieces of Walkers shortbread, but this time there was a really good cake!.

Given that our flight was early afternoon when everyone had just heard about the Court of appeal ruling i think that it was one of the best flights i have ever taken, the CSD ensured everyone in all cabins was looked after properly, all the crew were happy to listen to the various people who just wanted to moan at them about the strike and they stayed totally professional to the end. Well done to all of you, especially a fantastic CSD
