I also remember serving on DL's Business Travel Advisory Council (BTAC) for Los Angeles back in 1994. DL was looking for customer input and I was able to wangle an invitation to serve a one (1) year term on the BTAC (with time off for good behavior). We would meet quarterly at the old Western Airlines office building/hangar complex (now DL) on Century Blvd. at LAX. This was back in the day when DL was still serving full meals on short haul mainline flights. They were obviously looking to cut back on service wherever they could in order to save money and wanted our input concerning what was acceptable. One of the other BTAC members was George Wallace, the comedian and actor (no, not the governor!). During the year I served on BTAC, DL treated us very nicely - complimentary upgrades, passes to the Crown Room (although I was already a member at that time) and so on and so forth. At the end of the year, DL treated the BTAC members to VIP seating at the Rose Parade in Pasadena followed by a catered jazz brunch in a big tent next to the Rose Bowl followed by seats for the Rose Bowl football game (and I forget who was playing that year). They also gave us B767-200 desk models. I still have mine in my office.
