I respectfully disagree with this statement.

I have never been in C ex SYD-USA and vice versa and seen empty seats and yes I do a walk through the cabins from UD to stretch my legs.

I have always flown out when they have not had irrops the day or two before either, so thats not it either (touch wood ). I fly mid week ex SYD and generally either a Sat or Sunday night ex the USA. Same pattern - no spare seats in C.

I would find it really hard to believe they are not clearing the waitlist if there are people on the waitlist and sending the C cabin out with empty seats. Sometimes they are so oversold in Y that they are putting low fare Y pax into C and moving full fare C pax into F, so they can get the maximum number of people on board . I have been a recipient of this very act ^.


Yes, they often do clear a lot of people at the gate or at check-in in SYD. I am unsure how you are seeing the seatmaps once the flight is under airport control, which in Sydney, can be more than 4 hours prior to flight, sometimes 6 hours .

Anyway back to topic. I have written to 1KVoice regarding the two issues I see as a problem:

1. That we need some sort of refund option on W+ fares if our upgrades dont clear

2. That IM has completely slammed shut the NC availabilty in advance on long haul flights leaving us little opportunity to use our "confirmable" upgrade instruments.

I will report back if I get a legible response . I would encourage other 1Ks to write also.
