Howdy!

It gets a little confusing reading all of the Acronyms thrown about, but I need help on how to either use a C level saver award from the US to Italy and/or how SWUs work? United.com doesnt show any saver seats in C to Italy all 331 days out. I see people mentioning finding this tickets through AC or ANA, or something else. How does all of this work? I do not want an F seat because I will be traveling with my significant other and would like to seat next to her and not in a suite across the aisle.

Now I am probably going to get 1k this year. Are the 4 SWUs you receive really usuable to upgrade international flights to Europe or Australia? Easier to use than saver awards? Can they clear as soon as you buy the ticket or do you have to be waitlisted?

Apologies if some or all of this is covered in other threads, but nobody actually explains how to really use the "tools" available to be able to use saver awards with UA miles.
