You can hold accounts in just about any denomination, though the payment cards (deferred Visa debit) are issued in GBP, EUR or USD - so still useful in most parts of the world. Don't be scared about the 'private bank' bit in their name, min balance is GBP 5K or currency equivalent. If you are prepared to deposit at least GP 100K they'll give you an AmEx Platinum and waive the annual charge on it, provided you spend a certain amount each year.
