The fare that's the same now is what I would be purchasing now. I wasn't going to wait. I'd rather pay the change fee now to get a later flight which gives me more time in case were delayed. If the BA flight would get delayed even more then I'll have my insurance to fall back on.

And, on the other hand maybe I shouldn't concern myself at all and rely completely on insurance to pay for whatever expenses if we miss the flight.
