I had the worst experience with HSBC, They lost a large amount of money on an international transfer and each branch blamed each other, it took over 4 weeks to solve, and i ended up having to get the financial ombudsman involved in the UK to recover the loses I en-cured as I had a booked currency transfer . I then moved country again and could not set-up a local account they kept passing all my info across but it did not work. After several months I finally got the local manager and just ended up having a row with him. It ended in him sending a letter to me saying he did not want me as a customer. I accepted as I could not open an account anyway so I made the Local HSBC explain to the managers in the UK and Cayman Islands why I was leaving HSBC when I withdrew my funds they were not happy. Turns out the local manager has now left and I am happy with a great Local bank in Cayman and Barclays Wealth here.
I understand they can be good as they started off that way, but they are too big and when things go wrong, no-one takes responsibility.
Good luck with whoever you decide If you find a good manager who treats you well from any bank that is way better than a few perks that some of the global banks offer.
