Usually there's a way around ground transport that's easy/fast/cheap. Sometimes you sacrifice one element for another.
This helps a lot. I agree minimizing transfers is key. Gettting involved w/the Cadorna train into Milan will require several transfers, if you get lucky w/the timing, it could save a few minutes, but not much more than that.
if I were going to do this: I would take the Malpensa shuttle bus to Centrale and grab the train; only one transfer.
The other option: you can take a train from Gallarete station to Bergamo which requires a change at either Milan Porta Garibaldi or in Pioltello.
The reason I would go thru Centrale b/c it will provide more options/more often
There are also busses from Milano Centrale to Bergamo - but most will only get you to the Bergamo airport whereas the train stops in the city (albeit "lower" Bergamo - but Bergamo nonetheless)
Linate is indeed closer to the city center, so technically yes, it will be quicker to get to Centrale from there.
