It's not clear to me from the FAQ & Wiki, would the following (admittedly complicated and screwy*) set of changes be permitted?

  • Book SBA-LAX-BOS-LAX-SBA as a mileage run (turn around at BOS = 2hrs.)
  • Take SBA-LAX flight
  • At LAX standby for LAX-JFK-BOS, assume that clears
  • At JFK standby for JFK-LAX, assume that clears
  • Complete LAX-SBA leg

That's a standby adding a connection followed by a standby from the new connection that eliminates what was previously a connection.

I'm not worried about either the fees or the probability of the success of the stand bys, rather making sure that BOS is considered a connection and not a destination and that the changes are subsequently allowed.

Thanks,

Jim

*The goal would be to get most of the miles but on a 763 with a much better chance of an upgrade than on a 738 or 757.
