However I would agree that the full AirMiles to part cash fare trade off rates are less attractive long haul, for instance on departures to most destinations in the USA.
Yes agreed. Anything zone 3+ and the cash and miles option is bad value. The point i was making in regards to the above is that i have never seen the cash part of a zone 2 below £60/750. I have seen £60 & 750miles offered occasionally to South France destinations, and the standard seems to be £75 + 750miles for a zone 2 miles and cash. Worth noting that for zone 1, the cash and miles option is not really good value either. IMO should only really be considered for Zone 2, and only then depending on the flights total cash price and the cash part of a cash and miles option.
