You remind of a funny story I had up in the Alps, when I first visited Germany. I pulled over in a gas station to get a coffee. There was this nice german old lady. I go up to her and say:
"Ein kaffe. Bite. (waving hand for no) Nein zucker. (waving hand for no) Nein milch."

She looked at me and started laughing: "Schwarze caffe?".

"Carnati" has the second letter an "a" with the little hood on it, not the "i". That "i" was replaced with "a", a few years ago.
