I'll be flying SEA-JFK-LHR next month on a discounted coach fare, and according to AA's website, "Upgrades are valid to the next class of service and limited to a single one-way trip with a maximum of three segments." This leads me to believe that, for 25,000 miles and a copay, I get upgraded to the next class of service on up to 3 segments--in my case, that would be into F for SEA-JFK and into J on JFK-LHR.
Yes this is correct

If I wait-list for a mileage upgrade for the entire SEA-LHR trip, what happens to my stickers if I get an upgrade to F on the domestic portion, and then later clear into J on the international portion? Based on the language, it seems that the 25,000 miles plus copay would cover my upgrade on both the domestic and international segments, so would I get the stickers credited back? Or if the domestic portion clears before the international leg, am I just out those 5 stickers? Thanks in advance for your help!
You could put in a request for sticker upgrades for the domestic and a separate miles/copay request for the int'l and in the event the int'l clears before the domestic, call and ask if there is availability for the domestic. If so, then it should be covered by the int'l upgrade.
