Combining non-combinable fares- is it ever possible in case of emergency?

Hi all, I would like to ask about emergency fare/rule stretch.

My grandfather is in critical condition so I might have to fly to Korea in any minute to keep his last moment... A concern is that I am supposed to be in EU for next couple of weeks... so my travel plan can be difficult.

If I have to leave for Korea while I will be in EU, will (sympathetic) 1K desk let me reroute my roundtrip US-EU to US-EU / Asia-US? In such case, I could definitely buy or redeem one-way flight to Korea. Otherwise, I probably will have to buy another EU-Korea RT, which could be hectic..

TIA
