Why RT and not for example more respectable (IMHO) BBC or CBC?
What got me particularly annoyed is that in the past Hyatts used to offer VS channel (that currently carries NHL playoffs) but now it's gone and RT seems to have taken it's place.
How is channel selection decided?
It is up to every hotel manager to decide and sign the agreement with the local cable or dish provider, but they probably have to offer some basic ( cable ) channels. Considering that more and more people from Russia and China travel, it is not surprising that they offer more channels for those people. The quantity of channels increased during the last years and channels like ESPN Classic have become standard for more or less every property in the US. ^
My votes for the best/worst selection systemwide:
Worst - ( by far ) Regency Mainz / Cologne , please give us at least the chance to pay for channels like SKY Sport
Best - Park Dubai, about 105 channels
